Big news for Italy’s energy transition

The Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has approved the Decree to incentivize Energy Communities. This includes an incentive tariff and non-repayable grants for municipalities with fewer than 5 thousand inhabitants (funded by the PNRR), and aid amounting to € 5.7 billion.

But what are CERs – Renewable Energy Communities?

A CER can include:

  • groups of citizens,
  • condominiums,
  • SMEs,
  • local authorities / associations / cooperatives

How it is established

A deed, a statute or articles of incorporation are established, focusing on the environmental, economic and social benefits.

The project is submitted to the GSE and incentives are requested.

What are the benefits of a CER?

Self-production of energy from renewable sources

Lower energy costs

New economic opportunities for the local community

Environmental benefits and openness to the sharing economy
